Academy of Fine Arts Vienna – Library and Anatomy Hall
← To project overview
Conservation cleaning and structural preservation of listed, furnished interiors in the historic building of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, built between 1872 and 1877 according to designs by Theophil von Hansen. Restoration and project management (2019–2021)
Library: Restoration of the original, floor-to-ceiling bookshelves in the historic reading room. A previously applied, full-surface acrylic overpainting was chemically removed, thereby restoring the original waxed oak surface and making the characteristic expression of the furniture visible once again.
Anatomy Hall: Conservation measures to preserve the authentic spatial impression, including the cleaning and securing of the historic seating tiers (podia), as well as the preservation of the original marble dissecting table with its enameled water point.
