Festetics Palace – Budapest, Hungary

← To project overview

The representative historic interiors of the Festetics Palace in Budapest, featuring Neoclassical to Late Historicist wooden windows and doors, polychrome wall paneling, and coffered ceilings from the first half of the 19th century. The richly molded, partially carved wooden constructions are essential to the aristocratic character of the palace's interior architecture.

Restoration measures: The reconstruction of original polychromy, structural repairs, formal additions, and the replacement of missing carved details were carried out on the wooden windows, doors, and polychrome wall paneling. Regarding the ceilings, the polychrome surfaces were cleaned, contaminants removed, structural and formal repairs performed, and the surface treatments restored. The goal of the measures was to restore a uniform, historically authentic spatial impression.
