University of Innsbruck – Palais Claudiana, Claudia Hall

← To project overview

The Claudia Hall (Claudiasaal), located on the beletage of the Palais Claudiana, is a representative ceremonial hall of the University of Innsbruck, defined by its coffered wooden ceiling. Today, the room serves as a venue for lectures, conferences, and prestigious events; its interior design follows Late Renaissance to Early Baroque traditions. The richly profiled beam construction and the ornamental elaboration of the ceiling are central to the room's characteristic impression.

Restoration measures: Comprehensive cleaning and structural conservation measures were carried out on the coffered wooden ceiling and the associated timber constructions. Following the removal of aged surface treatments, structural repairs, the securing of cracks, as well as formal completions and the reconstruction of missing parts were performed. The process concluded with a uniform, historically appropriate surface treatment that restored the original materiality and the representative impact of the ceiling.
