Austrian National Library – State Hall, Vienna
← To project overview
Restoration of the historic wooden interior of the Baroque State Hall, including bookshelves, galleries, and balustrades. A key focus was the consolidation and supplementation of the extensive historic veneers: detached veneer elements were reattached with glutin glue at approximately 20,000 points, and missing areas were fully restored. The original surface treatments were conserved using ethanolic regeneration to preserve the historic substance without sanding. The work was carried out while the hall remained partially open to visitors, posing significant organizational challenges due to the room heights and scaffolding structures.
